The Sorbs have been living around the banks of the rivers Elbe and Spree for about 1,500 years, and although they are divided into two major groups which differ decidedly in both language and customs, they have survived together as Germany’s only ethnic minority. Throughout the centuries, the Sorbs with their heart-felt love for the country they live in have become rapidly germanised, and yet their resistance to full assimilation has ensured their continued survival as an ethnic minority. In the city of Bautzen, 4,000 of the 43,000 inhabitants belong to Germany’s only national minority. Antip: Сорбы живут как у Христа за пазухой. Как верно заметил lynx, никто их дёргает. Наоборот, немцы к ним максимально лояльны и отваливают им нехилые средства на поддержание национальной культуры. Другое дело, сорбы сами не выпячивают свою самостийность и не гонят, как хохлы и бульбаши, на старшего брата. Лишь треть из них знает родной язык, и, по большому счёту, они уже практически немцы. Вот список лидеров Сербской народной партии (http://www.wendische-volkspartei.de): Hannes Kell, Henry Matusch, Tony Rycer, Birgit Thieme, Marek Chełchowski, Frank Kossick, Steffen Groß.
vallund: там где сорбы живут вывески на двух языках, так что совсем язык они не забывают плюс телепередачи.
